Rossi supplies Materials Handling Equipment to Port
Rossi Engineering has been awarded the contract to supply 79 port terminal tractors and 22 Roll on/Roll off (RoRo) trailers to the South African Ports Authority.

Robert Rossi of Rossi Engineering commented, “In awarding this contract, the Ports Authority were looking for a BEE company with the experience and skills to source the right equipment and provide ongoing service and maintenance.  Rossi could deliver on this basis.” he said.

Rossi chose the German manufactured Mafi equipment for its design and reliability.  “Mafi is a world leader in heavy duty transport equipment and Rossi has an exclusive agency with them to deliver world class materials handling solutions to the African market.”  He said.

The equipment, which represents the latest technology, was manufactured in the German factory and delivered to the port in early 2007.    Ten of the new trailers have a 30 ton capacity while the remaining 12 have a 60 ton capacity.  It is anticipated that the new equipment will speed up the cargo handling processes at port and assist in SAPO’s vision to increase the Port’s capacity.
